Gastronomic Tour

Cosimo Commisso takes you on a culinary journey, dishing out his favourite restaurants around the world What is travel without the exploration of cultural cuisines? One of my favourite parts of jet setting to different destinations is experiencing the local culinary landscape, be it in a sprawling metropolis like New York City or a tropical haven like Honolulu. And lately I’ve discovered that some of the best restaurants lie in another amazing travel trend: design hotels! Next time you plan a trip, be sure to stop by one of these style-savvy eateries (and maybe even stay in the hotel that houses it).

11 Howard — New York City, America

11Howard This boutique Soho hotel is ultra-trendy, not only in its accommodations but also in its bar, The Blond, and its restaurant, Le Coucou. The Blond is a sophisticated drinking den that transforms into an exclusive nightclub once the sun sets, while Le Coucou, operated by famed restaurateur Stephen Starr, dishes up classic French cuisine with a mod twist. /

straf Straf is located in one of the trendiest cities in the world, so it’s only natural that the hotel emanates a vibe that’s as chic as the metropolis. Its in-house bar, The Straf Bar, is no exception, boasting a vibrant atmosphere that’s irresistible to the city’s most fashionable elite. While you’re in town, be sure to stop by the bar for a light lunch or Sunday brunch! /

PalazzinaG — Venice, Italy

palazzinag The Krug Lounge, a bar and restaurant at this renowned Venice hotel, is basically a large-scale work of art. You’ll find it difficult to focus on your plate with so much beauty surrounding you — but, thankfully, the cuisine is so incredible you’ll still find your meal completely memorable. A Cosimo Commisso tip: order their Grand Cuvée to sip while looking out over the Canal Grande. /

Vertigo Hotel — Dijon, France

vertigohoteldijon This restaurant employs the interesting “Petits Plats en Chambre” dining concept, which means each room contains plates of food crafted by renowned chefs and diners can help themselves. It’s an experience that’s as delicious as it is social! /

C-Hotel and Spa — Lake Como, Italy

c-hotel The grassroots yet ultra-luxurious Materia Prima Restaurant at C-Hotel and Spa was brought to life by award-winning chef Fabrizio Colzani. The rustically white space offers fine Italian dishes crafted using fresh local ingredients from nearby farms. /

Cosimo Commisso

Cosimo Commisso’s love for food started from an early age as he learned by his Grandmothers side. She did not have a fancy cooking school diploma on her wall, yet she was taught by her own Calabrese Grandma. Cosimo Commisso’s cooking skills have slowly but surely been perfected over the years so much so that this website is his first attempt to document and compile enough recipes for his first cooing book. Salute!
